From Pandemic Pivot to $10 Million: The Zido Story

In the face of the global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, when many industries were struggling, Samuel Ajiboyede saw an opportunity and launched Zido, a digital platform aimed at modernizing the infrastructure-reliant logistics sector. He focused on digitizing supply chain procurement and logistics, a bold move that would quickly pay off.

The Unexpected $10 Million Contract That Launched Zido

Ajiboyede’s entrepreneurial ambition took a massive leap just months after Zido’s launch. A chance LinkedIn connection led to a pivotal meeting. As Ajiboyede described, an initial outreach via the professional networking platform resulted in a meeting, followed by another with a director, and then the magic happened: the signing of a significant $10 million contract. This contract was awarded to Zido by a large Nigerian company for the movement of sizable cargo shipments between its branches across the country. Although Zido secured the contract, it involved a complex operation: finding reliable service providers and efficiently managing the end-to-end delivery process. This initial contract played a key role in Zido’s growth and is still operational.

Zido’s success, spearheaded by this contract, propelled Ajiboyede’s startup into the competitive African logistics arena, an industry known for its complex challenges.
