This initiative is in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), marking a significant step in supporting the growth of African tech startups. Nairobi will be the hub for three programs 500 Global will operate this year in partnership with UNDP. Mareme Dieng, a Partner at 500 Global, expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to expand their efforts with African entrepreneurs. The partnership with UNDP is crucial in fostering sustained innovation and economic expansion by creating a strong support system for African startups. This initiative builds on 500 Global’s earlier ventures, including the launch of 500 MENA, a fund dedicated to investing in high-growth technology startups in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The MENA fund will support startups from both within and outside the region.
