KRA’s GavaConnect API Platform Surpasses 1,000 Developers
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is significantly boosting its digital transformation efforts, announcing that over 1,000 developers have now registered for its GavaConnect Enterprise API platform. This milestone marks a major step in KRA’s strategy to modernize tax collection and enhance service delivery through digital innovation, positioning GavaConnect as the first public-sector integration hub of its kind in Kenya.
Streamlining Tax Compliance with GavaConnect
Launched during the second edition of KRA’s API Masterclass, GavaConnect currently offers 16 APIs that enable seamless integration of government tax services into private-sector applications. These APIs offer critical functionalities such as PIN verification, Tax Compliance Certificate checks, NIL Return filing, and e-Slip validation. By providing these endpoints, KRA aims to significantly reduce compliance friction for both individuals and businesses operating in Kenya. According to Annastacia Githuba, KRA’s Deputy Commissioner for Program Delivery & Client Engagement, this initiative is about “opening up opportunities for developers to innovate, build, and even monetize around our products,” effectively embedding government services into everyday digital experiences.
GavaConnect represents a forward-thinking approach by KRA, fostering collaboration with the developer community and driving digital inclusion in tax administration. This initiative not only modernizes revenue collection but also empowers developers to create innovative solutions that simplify tax compliance for citizens and businesses across Kenya.
