CcHUB and Gates Foundation Fuel Nigerian Startup Innovation with Strategic Investments
CcHUB, a leading innovation hub, in collaboration with the Gates Foundation, has unveiled a significant initiative, investing in nine promising Nigerian startups. These ventures have been selected to join the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) program, a strategic effort aimed at leveraging technology to address pressing socio-economic challenges across the nation. This program underscores a commitment to fostering local innovation that can drive impactful change within Nigerian communities.
Empowering Impact Across Critical Sectors
The nine selected startups are poised to tackle vital issues spanning Maternal & Neonatal health, Agritech, health microfinancing, and financial inclusion. Their solutions are specifically targeted for implementation and impact in key Nigerian states, including Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, and Lagos. Each startup will receive comprehensive support designed to accelerate their growth and ensure their solutions reach those who need them most. This includes crucial equity-free funding, invaluable technical advisory, and intensive product development support through a dedicated product residency program. Furthermore, participants will benefit from technical assistance for seamless product integration, gain access to a collaborative community of practice, and receive strategic support for rolling out their innovations in the selected states. Among the promising cohort are Clafiya, a digital health platform dedicated to transforming access to primary care and wellness in emerging markets, and UHCTech, which is developing an innovative microinsurance platform enabling Africans to pay for health coverage through flexible installment plans, making insurance more accessible.
This collaborative investment by CcHUB and the Gates Foundation is a pivotal step towards building robust digital public infrastructure in Nigeria. By empowering these startups, the initiative not only fosters technological advancement but also directly contributes to improving healthcare, boosting agricultural productivity, and enhancing financial inclusion for millions, ultimately driving sustainable socio-economic development across the country.
