Saidal and Madar Holding Pioneer Cell Therapy in Algeria

Algeria’s healthcare landscape is poised for a significant transformation following a landmark partnership between the leading pharmaceutical group Saidal and Madar Holding. On Saturday, a strategic agreement was inked to establish a state-of-the-art cell therapy clinic in Sidi Abdellah, Algiers. This innovative collaboration underscores a strong commitment to medical innovation and expanding access to high-tech healthcare solutions within the nation and potentially across the African continent, marking a pivotal moment for advanced medical treatments in the region.

Project Vision: Cost, Capacity, and Regional Impact

The ambitious project, estimated to cost 65 million euros, is envisioned to be completed within a challenging timeframe of 18 to 24 months. The initial phase will see the clinic equipped with a capacity of 100 beds, with future plans to expand its reach and services to other Algerian wilayas. A key aspect of the clinic’s long-term financial sustainability and broader impact is the integration of medical tourism. This strategic foresight aims to position Algeria as a regional hub for cell therapy, offering advanced medical care at a significantly lower cost compared to international alternatives, thereby attracting patients from across the globe seeking affordable, high-quality treatment. The partnership agreement was formally signed by the Chief Executive Officers of both groups, Nabila Benygzer Ouaret for Saidal and Charaf-Eddine Amara for Madar Holding, at Saidal’s production facility in El Harrach. The momentous signing ceremony was graced by the presence of key government officials, including Wassim Kouidri, the Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, and Sifi Ghrieb, the Minister of Industry, further highlighting the national importance and governmental backing for this strategic healthcare initiative. Minister Kouidri lauded the project as “a strategic project approved by the President of the Republic,” emphasizing its critical role in Algeria’s development agenda.

This pioneering cell therapy clinic represents a monumental step forward for Algerian healthcare, positioning the nation at the forefront of advanced medical technology in Africa. By combining Saidal’s pharmaceutical expertise with Madar Holding’s investment capabilities, the project promises not only to enhance domestic medical services but also to establish Algeria as a competitive destination for medical tourism, offering cutting-edge treatments at accessible prices. This initiative is a clear testament to Algeria’s commitment to improving public health outcomes and fostering economic growth through high-value sectors like specialized medical care.
