ORC Launches Accelerated Business Registration Service: “ORC Introduces 48”

The Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) in Accra, Ghana, has unveiled a new, expedited business registration service, dubbed “ORC Introduces 48,” aimed at streamlining the process for entrepreneurs. The initiative, announced on August 3, 2025, provides a premium option for faster application processing, aligning with efforts to support business growth within the region. This service is particularly relevant in the African tech context, where swift registration is crucial for startups and small businesses.

Prestige Service: Speed and Efficiency

The core of “ORC Introduces 48” is a Prestige Service that guarantees application processing within a timeframe of 24 to 48 hours. This significant improvement in processing speed comes at a small fee, making it accessible while reflecting the added value. Acting Registrar of ORC, Maame Samma Peprah, highlighted the initiative during a meeting with the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee of Parliament. This new service complements the ORC’s existing efforts, which have already seen remarkable results. Peprah reported that the ORC had achieved 96.48% of its registration target, successfully registering over 50,000 entities this year alone. The speed of the Prestige Service is contingent upon the completeness and accuracy of the submitted data. Furthermore, the ORC is expanding its outreach through registration clinics and developing a new mobile application designed to bring business registration services directly to the doorsteps of business owners, demonstrating a commitment to accessibility and convenience within the rapidly evolving digital landscape of African entrepreneurship.

In conclusion, “ORC Introduces 48” represents a proactive step by the ORC to facilitate business growth in Ghana. By offering accelerated registration alongside existing initiatives and technological advancements, the ORC is creating a more efficient and accessible environment for entrepreneurs, which is vital for fostering a thriving business ecosystem, especially in the booming African tech scene.
