This will be reinforced by robust enforcement measures and enhanced management of mining equipment, particularly excavators, which are often used in unauthorized operations. To facilitate this, the government plans to track all excavators nationwide. The installation of tracking devices will allow real-time monitoring of their movements, especially to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive areas like forest reserves. A national control room has been established at the Minerals Commission. This technological approach leverages African tech advancements, like satellite tracking and remote monitoring systems, to enhance resource management and environmental protection.
