Strengthening Domestic Air Travel in Algeria: A Boost for Regional Connectivity
The Algerian Minister of Transport, Said Sayoud, announced a significant initiative to bolster domestic air travel within the country. Speaking on Saturday from the El-Oued province, the minister confirmed that the implementation of reinforced internal airline routes is entering its final stages of preparation and will be launched in the coming days. This move signifies a commitment to improving accessibility and connectivity across Algeria.
Expanding Air Connectivity for Citizens
Minister Sayoud, accompanied by the Director General of Algerian Customs, General-Major Abdelhafidh Bekhouche, emphasized the government’s dedication to executing this vital project. The core aim is to meet the needs of Algerian citizens by enhancing domestic air travel options. This includes increasing the frequency of flights and establishing new routes that cater to the specific characteristics of different regions, particularly those in the south. The planned expansion is designed to provide improved service and more convenient travel choices for people living and working in the interior regions of Algeria.
This initiative will begin with the establishment of a new domestic airline (a subsidiary of Air Algérie), which is in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The project is important, particularly for Africa, for increased regional connectivity.
