Enfidha Airport in Tunisia Produces Drinking Water from Air with Kumulus Technology
Since July 31, 2025, Enfidha-Hammamet International Airport has implemented innovative technology that transforms atmospheric humidity into potable water. This initiative, spearheaded by the Tunisian startup Kumulus, offers an environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and sustainable alternative to bottled water consumption.
Kumulus Water Generation at Enfidha Airport
These atmospheric water generators operate independently of traditional water networks. They capture ambient humidity, filter it, enrich it with minerals, and convert it into high-quality drinking water. Each device can produce an average of 30 liters of water daily. This significantly reduces single-use plastic consumption, lowers CO₂ emissions associated with water transportation and distribution, and ensures a consistent supply of healthy, mineral-rich, certified water beneficial for the airport staff’s health.
In the coming days, TAV Tunisie plans to further equip the airport with this technology, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable practices and highlighting the potential for African innovation to address environmental challenges. Kumulus’s technology offers a compelling model for other airports and facilities seeking to reduce their environmental footprint while providing a reliable source of clean drinking water.
