Golden Globes 2026: Submissions Open, But Where Are the Tunisian Films?

The Golden Globe Awards have officially opened submissions for their 83rd edition, scheduled to take place live from the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on January 11, 2026. Known as “Hollywood’s Party of the Year®,” this event traditionally kicks off the awards season, celebrating excellence in film, television, and, more recently, podcasts.

Tunisian Cinema’s Absence on the Global Stage

With submissions now being accepted through the official platform, the question arises: where are the Tunisian films? While the global film industry gears up to showcase its best, it’s crucial to consider the representation of African cinema, particularly Tunisian films. The deadline for submissions is October 31, 2025, with nominations to be announced on December 8, 2025. This leaves ample time for Tunisian filmmakers to ensure their work is considered. Are logistical hurdles or funding limitations preventing broader participation? Overcoming these challenges is essential for fostering a more inclusive and representative global film landscape.

The 2026 Golden Globes ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ in the United States. For the second consecutive year, Nikki Glaser, a Golden Globe, Grammy, and Emmy-nominated comedian, actress, and writer, will host the event, leading the awards presentations and live segments. Glenn Weiss is set to produce. The opening of submissions presents a key opportunity for filmmakers worldwide, including those in Tunisia, to gain recognition on a prestigious international stage.
