Paul Adom-Otchere Detained Amid Procurement Breach Investigation

Ghanaian media personality and former Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) board chairman, Paul Adom-Otchere, has been detained by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in connection with alleged procurement breaches. The detention follows an invitation extended by the OSP regarding a revenue assurance contract between GACL and a private company.

OSP Investigates GACL Contract

Adom-Otchere, along with Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah, Group Executive for Commercial Services at GACL, and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea, CEO of Devnest Systems, were questioned by the OSP. The investigation centers around a contract between GACL and a company owned by the proprietor of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML). The OSP is currently scrutinizing potential procurement irregularities in the awarding of the revenue assurance contract. The OSP shared details of the detentions and investigation on social media, confirming their commitment to pursuing potential corruption and procurement breaches within state-owned enterprises.

The detention of Adom-Otchere and the ongoing investigation highlight the government’s focus on transparency and accountability in public procurement processes, particularly within key sectors like aviation and technology. The outcome of the OSP’s investigation will be closely watched, especially given the increasing scrutiny of government contracts and their impact on the Ghanaian economy.
