Sonatrach CEO Inspects Strategic Hassi R’Mel Gas Boosting Project in Algeria
Rachid Hachichi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Sonatrach group, recently conducted a comprehensive working visit and inspection of the Hassi R’Mel gas field Boosting project (Stage 3 – Phase II) in Algeria’s Laghouat wilaya. The purpose of this significant visit was to ascertain the current progress of the project, which a group communiqué indicates has reached 51% completion. This pivotal initiative is designed to considerably enhance Algeria’s natural gas production capacity, further solidifying its critical role in the African energy landscape.

During his inspection of this vital energy infrastructure project, Mr. Hachichi was accompanied by a distinguished high-level delegation. This esteemed group included Lorenzo Simonelli, the CEO of the prominent American company Baker Hughes, and Paolo Borri, the Executive Director of Operations for the Italian firm Tecnimont. Also present were numerous senior executives from Sonatrach, key representatives from the two contracting companies involved in the project, and the CEOs of various subsidiaries under the Sonatrach public group.
