Virtual Reality Meets Tourism: Dobiison Secures License to Boost Revenue
Ghanaian technology and virtual reality (VR) firm Dobiison has officially received a tourism license from the country’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. This strategic move positions the company to pioneer the expansion of virtual tourism, creating a new avenue to enhance tourism revenue for Ghana. The license marks a significant step in merging cutting-edge technology with one of Africa’s most valuable economic sectors.
Unlocking New Frontiers in African Tourism
In a recent interview, Dobiison’s Business Development Manager, Lazarus I. Adams, emphasized the immense potential of tourism across the continent. He noted that as the sector grows, virtual reality offers a groundbreaking opportunity for Ghana and other African nations to capitalize on this demand. Adams explained that VR technology can attract tourists and investors virtually, generating income without the need for physical travel. “When it comes to tourism, you can actually tour via virtual reality without being physically present,” he stated. “As we sit here, we can immerse ourselves in Wli Falls without ever visiting it, right from the comfort of a headset or even a phone.”
This innovative approach allows potential visitors to experience Ghana’s rich cultural and natural attractions from anywhere in the world. By providing immersive, accessible previews of destinations like the Wli Waterfalls, Dobiison aims to not only boost interest in physical travel but also create a standalone revenue stream through virtual experiences. This initiative showcases the power of African tech to redefine traditional industries and drive economic growth.
