OPay Fuels Education in Nigeria: Partners with Olabisi Onabanjo University in N1.2 Billion Scholarship Scheme
OPay, a prominent financial institution in Nigeria, has further demonstrated its dedication to education and youth empowerment by partnering with Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU). This significant collaboration marks OOU as the ninth recipient of OPay’s substantial ₦1.2 billion, 10-year scholarship program. The initiative underscores OPay’s commitment to investing in Nigeria’s future by alleviating financial burdens for students and fostering an environment conducive to academic excellence.
A Decade of Educational Support
The partnership between OPay and OOU signifies a decade-long commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders. Each year for the next ten years, the scholarship scheme will provide financial assistance to 20 OOU students. Each student will receive ₦300,000 annually to cover their tuition fees and other academic expenses. This financial support will empower recipients to focus on their studies, cultivate their potential, and pursue their aspirations without the added stress of financial constraints. During the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing event, Mr. Justin Zhang, Chief Public Affairs Officer at OPay, emphasized the critical importance of empowering Nigerian youth through education, highlighting the expansion of the scholarship program to the ninth university this year.
