SpaceX’s Starlink has officially launched its satellite internet service in Chad, a significant move towards improving connectivity in one of Africa’s least connected nations. Overcoming Infrastructure Barriers in Chad
This expansion follows closely on the heels of Starlink’s launch in Lesotho just two weeks prior, after securing a 10-year operating license on April 14, 2025. The current availability map indicates service coverage in key Chadian cities such as N’Djamena, Moundou, and Sarh, with future expansion planned based on demand. The Chadian government’s decision to grant Starlink an operating license in November 2023 highlights the recognition of satellite internet’s ability to bypass the limitations of traditional infrastructure.
Starlink’s entry into Chad represents a crucial step in connecting the unconnected in Sub-Saharan Africa.
