Peach Payments Reveals Record-Breaking 2025 Black Friday Cyber Monday Performance

South African digital payments platform Peach Payments has announced extraordinary growth during the 2025 Black Friday Cyber Monday (BFCM) shopping weekend, signaling a robust and accelerating shift towards e-commerce. The company recorded a remarkable 93% increase in the total rand value processed compared to the same four-day period in 2024. This surge in online payment activity highlights the growing confidence of consumers and businesses in the African digital economy and underscores the increasing preference for online shopping over traditional brick-and-mortar retail experiences.

Unpacking the Surge in Digital Transactions

The scale of this year’s success was detailed by CEO and Co-founder Rahul Jain. “Over the four-day weekend, we processed more than 2.69 million transactions, to a total value of more than R1.86 billion,” he stated. This performance was not isolated to the BFCM weekend alone. The entire month, dubbed “Black November,” saw a 109% overall growth in rand value processed through the platform compared to November 2024. Jain commented on this trend, noting, “We continue to see deals being pulled in across the whole of November, not just the BFCM weekend,” and emphasized the ongoing “shift to online spending rather than in physical stores.” The Retail industry was a standout performer, increasing its share of online sales by an impressive 154% year-on-year. Other sectors also experienced significant growth, with Financial Services up by 98% and Leisure & Entertainment increasing by 48%.

The data from Peach Payments clearly indicates that the end-of-year sales period is no longer confined to a single weekend. Instead, it has evolved into a month-long digital event that is reshaping consumer behaviour and driving substantial growth for online businesses across multiple industries. These results serve as a powerful testament to the vitality of South Africa’s e-commerce landscape and its continued upward trajectory.
