NITDA Empowers 3,600 Teachers to Champion Digital Literacy Across Nigeria
Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is spearheading a significant push for digital literacy nationwide, starting with the empowerment of educators. The agency recently concluded a comprehensive training program for 3,600 teachers drawn from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. This initiative aims to equip teachers with the skills to become digital literacy champions within their respective communities.
Digital Literacy for All Initiative
The training was conducted under the “Digital Literacy for All” (DL4ALL) initiative. The program incorporated weeks of virtual learning sessions, culminating in an intensive two-day physical workshop held in Abuja. Following this rigorous training, selected participants will return to their schools to disseminate their newly acquired digital skills to fellow teachers and students. This train-the-trainer approach is designed to amplify the impact of the program and ensure widespread digital literacy adoption. NITDA views this initiative as crucial for bridging the digital divide and preparing Nigeria’s education sector for the demands of the modern, digitally-driven economy, aligning the nation’s educational system with global trends in digital transformation.
