Zoho Boosts Digital Skills in East Africa with Expanded Young Creators Program

Zoho has significantly broadened its impactful Young Creators Program (YCP) across the East African region, taking a crucial step towards equipping a new generation with essential digital competencies. This strategic expansion is focused on empowering both students and professionals by providing hands-on training in low-code application development. Through a series of intensive workshops, Zoho successfully trained over 150 participants across key nations including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Madagascar, enabling them to design and deploy sophisticated, business-ready applications using Zoho Creator, the company’s powerful low-code platform.

Empowering Local Innovators Through Practical Low-Code and AI

The YCP workshops are designed to go beyond theoretical knowledge, offering practical experiences that instill confidence and capability. Veerakumar Natarajan, Regional Manager for Zoho East Africa, highlighted the program’s core mission: “Through the Young Creators Program, we are helping students and professionals across East Africa gain the tools and confidence to turn their ideas into impactful digital solutions.” He further articulated Zoho’s broader vision, stating, “Our goal is to make technology education accessible and practical, empowering young innovators to solve local challenges and shape Africa’s digital future.” This vision underscores the program’s commitment to nurturing homegrown talent capable of addressing specific regional needs through technology.

Each workshop also provided participants with a cutting-edge introduction to AI-assisted app development. Utilizing CoCreator, integrated within Zoho Creator, attendees experienced firsthand how artificial intelligence can streamline and enhance the application development process. This innovative approach ensures that participants are not only proficient in low-code methodologies but are also familiar with advanced tools that drive efficiency and innovation in the rapidly evolving digital landscape. The combination of low-code accessibility and AI-driven capabilities positions these young creators at the forefront of technological advancement.

Zoho’s expanded Young Creators Program stands as a testament to its dedication to fostering digital empowerment in East Africa. By providing practical, hands-on training in low-code and AI-assisted development, Zoho is not merely teaching technical skills but is cultivating a new cohort of innovators ready to build solutions for their communities. The program’s focus on accessibility and real-world application is set to significantly contribute to the region’s digital transformation, paving the way for a more technologically proficient and self-reliant Africa.
