UAE’s Funch Secures $500,000 to Fuel AI-Powered Lunch Subscription Service
Funch, a foodtech startup based in the UAE, has successfully secured $500,000 in a pre-seed funding round. The investment, spearheaded by Angelspark, also saw participation from notable investors including Mostafa Kandil (founder of Swvl), Mahesh Murthy, Tushar F., Hamed Mustafa, Rutvik Deepak, and other undisclosed contributors. This capital injection will be used to scale Funch’s innovative AI-driven lunch subscription service, potentially influencing food delivery trends in the broader African context, where similar convenience models are gaining traction.
Transforming Lunch with AI and Flexibility
Established in 2025 by Ahmad Joehnny and Ghada Zanaty, Funch distinguishes itself with its AI-native approach to meal subscriptions. The service offers a flat-rate lunch subscription priced at AED 19 per day, with the significant advantage of no delivery fees. Users gain considerable control over their experience, able to personalize their food preferences and receive daily, freshly prepared lunches. Further enhancing user flexibility, the platform offers the option to skip, pause, or cancel subscriptions at any time, a feature that adds to its appeal. This model potentially allows Funch to become a leading player in the rapidly growing food delivery space, not only in the UAE but also with the potential for expansion in African markets.
The funding will enable Funch to expand its reach and further refine its AI-powered personalization capabilities. This could set a new standard for convenient and customizable meal options in a region increasingly adopting technology-driven solutions.
