Furthermore, the operator aimed to diversify its international routes to avoid over-dependence on the incumbent operator’s alternatives, such as the Sea-Me-We 4 cable between Marseille and Bizerte. The decision to deploy a new cable was also influenced by delays in the Medusa cable project. According to Mestiri, waiting for the Medusa cable to become operational would have prevented Ooredoo from effectively managing the anticipated surge in data traffic resulting from the introduction of 5G technology.
