Standard Chartered Kenya Invests KES 9.1 Million in Women-Led Kenyan Tech Ventures
Standard Chartered Kenya, in collaboration with iBizAfrica-Strathmore University, has announced the eighth cohort of its Women in Tech (WiT) Accelerator Programme. A significant investment of KES 9.1 million in seed funding has been awarded to seven promising women-led tech ventures, signifying a crucial step in fostering female entrepreneurship within Kenya’s burgeoning tech sector. Fueling Female Innovation: Key Details of the Programme
Each of the seven participating businesses will receive KES 1.3 million, along with crucial resources such as tools, specialized training, and networking opportunities, all designed to facilitate their expansion and success. Dr. Joseph Sevilla, Director of iLabAfrica and iBizAfrica at Strathmore University, highlighted the profound impact of these initiatives, emphasizing the innovative spirit of these women entrepreneurs and their dedication to transforming society. The eighth cohort of the WiT Accelerator Programme, which commenced in July 2025, attracted 84 applications from women-led ventures across Kenya. Fifteen enterprises were then selected for an intensive 12-week accelerator program. This program emphasizes critical elements such as sustainability, environmental, social and governance (ESG) integration, financial and business modeling, and product development, reflecting a holistic approach to nurturing the growth of sustainable and impactful tech businesses.
