Sun King Enters Kenya’s Solar & Electronics Manufacturing Sector
Sun King, a prominent company known for its solar and appliance financing solutions, is expanding its operations into manufacturing with a new facility located in Tatu City, Kenya. This venture marks a significant step as Sun King’s first manufacturing operation on the African continent.
Local Manufacturing Boosts Kenyan Economy
The expansive 7,600-square-metre facility boasts an impressive annual production capacity of up to 700,000 units, with the potential for future expansion. The plant will centralize manufacturing processes, product refurbishment, and high-capacity warehousing for Sun King’s range of solar and electronic products. According to Patrick Walsh, CEO and Co-Founder of Sun King, the company is dedicated to providing high-quality products at affordable prices for families and businesses throughout Kenya and Africa. He believes this facility will leverage Kenyan talent and innovation to uphold this commitment. Sun King projects that this localization of manufacturing will result in savings of over USD $150 million in imports across Africa over the next five years, thereby retaining more value and creating job opportunities within the Kenyan economy by shortening supply chains.
