Anka, Formerly Afrikrea, Acquired by Global Shop Following Bankruptcy

Anka, the pan-African e-commerce platform previously known as Afrikrea, which facilitates trade between African creators and global consumers, has been acquired by Global Shop Group. This acquisition follows the bankruptcy and subsequent liquidation of Anka’s parent company, MANSAART, in France.

# Details of the Acquisition

MANSAART entered liquidation in August 2025 after administrators concluded the business was unsustainable. While the exact financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, it is suggested that the distressed sale price was less than the $13.5 million Anka had secured from investors. Prominent investors included the IFC, Proparco, Bpifrance, Saviu Ventures, and Investisseurs & Partenaires. As part of the acquisition, Anka’s three founders, including CEO Moulaye Tabouré, will be departing the company following a transition period. Tabouré stated that Global Shop possesses the necessary resources to further develop Anka, highlighting the need for more than just technology to scale the business effectively. Global Shop’s Ceesay explained that the acquisition aligns with their broader strategy of establishing a global, multi-brand retail ecosystem.

This acquisition marks a significant shift for Anka, showcasing the challenges and opportunities within the African e-commerce landscape. It also highlights the growing interest of global entities in leveraging the unique offerings of African creators within the international market.
