FNB Expands Contactless Payments with Swoo Pay for Huawei and Android Users
FNB and RMB Private Bank are making contactless payments even more accessible in South Africa with the introduction of Swoo Pay, a new secure payment option for customers using Huawei or other Android-enabled devices. This move underscores FNB’s commitment to providing diverse and convenient digital payment solutions to its extensive customer base.
Swoo Pay: Bridging the Gap for Huawei Device Owners
The integration of Swoo Pay is particularly significant for Huawei users. Customers with NFC-enabled Huawei smartphones running HarmonyOS or AndroidOS, especially those without Google Services, can now seamlessly link their FNB virtual or physical cards to Swoo Pay. This allows them to make quick and secure “tap to pay” transactions at any contactless-enabled point-of-sale terminal or ATM. Senzo Nsibande, CEO of Card at FNB, highlighted the bank’s dedication to digital innovation, stating, “As a digital innovation leader, we are always looking for secure and convenient digital payment options for all our customers across the continuum. The enablement of Swoo Pay makes contactless payments more accessible to those customers using Huawei devices.” This expansion aligns with the broader trend of increased adoption of contactless payments, with FNB reporting that total retail spend through its enabled digital wallets exceeding R200 billion as of August 2025.
