Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Lazhar Bennour, Director General of Economic and Commercial Cooperation, emphasized the significance of Tunisia’s presence at IATF 2025. The Tunisian delegation, comprising ministries, public agencies, SMEs, startups, and exporters, sent a strong signal of the country’s dedication to actively participating in the African common market. Bennour praised Algeria’s organization and hospitality, underscoring the strategic relationship between Tunis and Algiers. He believes the complementary strengths of the two nations should be channeled into tangible projects, such as a joint automotive venture to create vehicles designed, engineered, and manufactured entirely within Africa, thereby boosting regional industrial capacity and technological innovation.

The aspiration to create a “100% African” car symbolizes a broader movement towards self-reliance and economic empowerment within the continent. Such a project, if realized, could serve as a catalyst for technological development, job creation, and increased intra-African trade, showcasing the potential for African nations to collaborate and compete in the global automotive market.
