Japanese Auto Giant NTN Corporation Eyes Manufacturing Plant in Tunisia

NTN Corporation, a prominent Japanese automotive component manufacturer, is considering establishing its first industrial project in Africa, specifically in Tunisia. This potential investment was revealed by the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy on Monday, marking a significant development for Tunisia’s automotive industry and the wider African manufacturing landscape. The news comes as a boost for Tunisia’s efforts to attract foreign direct investment and strengthen its position as a key player in the global automotive supply chain.

Potential Investment Details and Meeting Outcomes

The investment possibility was discussed during a meeting in Tunis between the Minister of Industry, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, and NTN Corporation’s CEO, Eiichi Ukai, who was on his first official visit to Tunisia. The meeting was also attended by several prominent figures from the Tunisian industrial sector. Representatives from LTM, the Al Badr group, and the Director General of the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation (APII), Omar Bouzouada, were present. During the meeting, NTN Corporation presented its potential investment plan in Tunisia, which would focus on manufacturing automotive components for export.
