Saidal to Revive Pharmaceutical Exports to Libya
Algeria’s state-owned pharmaceutical group, Saidal, is set to reignite its exports of pharmaceutical products to Libya. This follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a Libyan delegation on October 5th, designed to bolster pharmaceutical cooperation between the two North African nations. The agreement signals a renewed commitment to trade and knowledge-sharing in the pharmaceutical sector.
Strategic Partnership and Knowledge Transfer
The signing ceremony, held at Saidal’s headquarters, involved key figures from both sides, including Saidal’s CEO, Nabila Benygzer née Ouaret, and Akram Ali Ahmed Al-Saïd, Director General of Al-Louloua Al-Oula, a Libyan company specializing in importing pharmaceuticals and medical supplies. The agreement’s primary objectives encompass the revival of Saidal’s pharmaceutical exports to the Libyan market. Beyond trade, the MoU also emphasizes the transfer of expertise and technological know-how in pharmaceutical production. This collaborative approach aims to strengthen Libya’s capacity in the pharmaceutical industry, offering a potential boost to local manufacturing capabilities and improved healthcare access. This signifies a significant step towards regional economic integration and collaboration within the African pharmaceutical landscape.
The recent agreement between Saidal and Al-Louloua Al-Oula marks a positive development, reflecting the potential for growing regional partnerships and economic cooperation within Africa. This renewed collaboration promises to increase the accessibility of pharmaceutical products, and facilitates knowledge transfer contributing to greater self-sufficiency in pharmaceutical production within the region.
