Saluni: Connecting Customers with Local Beauty Professionals in Nigeria
Moving to a new place often presents challenges, and finding reliable beauty services can be surprisingly difficult. For Idemudia Oriakhi, the founder and CEO of Saluni, this became a personal frustration in 2021 when he returned to Nigeria and struggled to find a simple haircut. What should have been a quick task turned into a drawn-out search involving contacting friends, scrolling through Instagram, and endless Google searches. This experience sparked the idea for Saluni, a digital solution designed to streamline access to beauty professionals.
Bridging the Gap in the Beauty Sector
Drawing on his diverse background in real estate, architecture, and IT, Oriakhi envisioned a platform that would connect customers with nearby hairstylists, barbers, and other beauty specialists effortlessly. Saluni aims to eliminate the hassle of finding trusted beauty services by creating a seamless digital marketplace. As Oriakhi explained to Techpoint Africa, “Saluni hopes to solve a problem; that is, the speed with which customers get services. There’s a gap, and we’ve built something that bridges the gap.”
Saluni represents a promising solution to a common problem, leveraging technology to simplify the process of finding and booking beauty services in Nigeria. By connecting customers directly with local professionals, Saluni aims to improve efficiency and convenience within the beauty sector.
