700 Trainees Benefit from National Apprenticeship Programme in Bono Region

The National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) is making significant strides in tackling youth unemployment in Ghana, with 700 trainees recently enrolled in the Bono Region. This initiative, a key government effort, aims to bridge the skills gap and stimulate economic growth by equipping young people with practical, industry-relevant skills. The Bono Regional Coordinator of the NAP, Adams Ibrahim, confirmed the successful enrollment, highlighting the programme’s impact on the region.

Addressing Youth Unemployment Through Skills Development

The NAP provides free, high-quality apprenticeship training, focusing on technical, vocational, and entrepreneurial skills essential for today’s job market. Selected from a pool of approximately 6,000 applicants, these 700 trainees will receive nationally recognized certifications upon completion of their programs. This certification will open doors to employment or self-employment opportunities in priority sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, ICT, fashion, construction, renewable energy, and traditional crafts. For those who were not selected this round, Adams Ibrahim reassured them that the program is ongoing and they would benefit in the future.

The National Apprenticeship Programme represents a crucial investment in Ghana’s future workforce. By providing valuable skills and pathways to employment, the NAP is empowering young people in the Bono Region and across the country to contribute to economic growth and build successful careers. This initiative plays a vital role in addressing the persistent issue of youth unemployment and fostering a more skilled and competitive workforce in Ghana.
