This initiative underscores the Algerian government’s commitment to fostering digital inclusion and upgrading its telecommunications infrastructure. This expansion is particularly important for the country’s economic development, supporting various sectors, from education and healthcare to business and e-commerce.

Accelerating Fiber Optic Deployment and Addressing Coverage Gaps

The minister emphasized the strategic importance of this nationwide fiber optic program, highlighting the need to expedite ongoing construction projects. The goal is to connect all residential areas and key activity centers to meet the increasing demand for high-speed internet access across Algeria. Zerrouki also addressed the responsibilities of mobile phone operators, stressing their obligation to comply with established specifications regarding network coverage.
