Launched on August 28, 2025, the collaboration introduces a convenient tap-and-pay system via the FAAN Prepaid NFC Card, starting with Lagos and Abuja airports. How the Tap-and-Pay System Works
The core of the new system is the FAAN Prepaid NFC Card, a contactless payment method designed to expedite airport access fees. Upon arriving at an airport gate, drivers are prompted with the required fee, determined by their vehicle type, on the Paystack terminal. Instead of traditional cash transactions or potential delays, drivers simply tap their FAAN Prepaid NFC Card on the terminal. The payment is processed instantly, without the need for a PIN, allowing the gate barrier to open in a matter of seconds. FAAN plans to implement this system across all its managed airports in Nigeria by the end of 2025.
