Oni-Tel Strengthens Gauteng’s Digital Infrastructure with New Inter-Data Centre Fibre Network

Oni-Tel Fibre Networks, a South African player in the fibre optic infrastructure space, has announced the launch of its innovative Inter-Data Centre Fibre Network. This initiative represents a significant advancement in bolstering Gauteng’s digital backbone, providing enhanced speed and reliability for data transfer between crucial data centers. Digital Parks Africa (DPA) will be the first point of presence (PoP) for this new network, marking an important milestone.

A Next-Generation Fibre Solution

According to Oni-Tel CEO Andre Pillay, the newly launched network prioritizes simplicity, resilience, and optimal performance. Pillay highlighted the advantages for clients transitioning from older systems, emphasizing the streamlined and robust nature of Oni-Tel’s infrastructure. He stated, “We don’t just install fibre; we engineer value into it.” Pillay added that the network is new, purpose-built, and free of legacy system constraints, granting Oni-Tel the flexibility and efficiency required to offer a compelling alternative to existing backhaul providers in the region. Oni-Tel is leveraging smart sensing technology and proactive monitoring to identify and address potential problems before they impact network performance, ensuring consistent and reliable service delivery.

This move by Oni-Tel signifies a positive step forward for digital connectivity in South Africa, especially in a landscape where reliable and high-speed data transfer is increasingly critical for businesses and innovation. The focus on a clean, new network and proactive monitoring sets a strong precedent for future infrastructure development in the region.
