GoldBod Slams “False” GH¢3 Billion Loss Report, Demands Retraction

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has issued a forceful denial against allegations of incurring losses exceeding GH¢3 billion during its inaugural year of operations. Describing the claims as entirely “false” and deliberately fabricated to undermine its crucial role in the national economy, GoldBod is pushing back hard against what it perceives as damaging misinformation. The refutation comes in response to reports from Asaase Radio, which had suggested the organisation was operating at a significant deficit.

GoldBod Reaffirms Strong Economic Contribution and Future Initiatives

In an official statement released on Monday, November 17, 2025, and made public via GhanaWeb Business, GoldBod asserted that Asaase Radio’s portrayal “does not reflect the reality on the ground.” The Board emphasized its consistent positive impact on Ghana’s economic landscape since its establishment. GoldBod plays a pivotal role in the country’s gold sector by facilitating the purchasing, selling, and precise assaying of gold sourced from licensed mining operators nationwide. This critical function, according to GoldBod, has demonstrably contributed to national development. Further demonstrating its commitment to transparency and efficiency, the CEO also hinted at the upcoming launch of GoldBod’s comprehensive track-and-trace system, slated to commence in the first quarter of 2026, aiming to enhance accountability within the supply chain. GoldBod reiterated that the claims of substantial losses are “mischievous” and misrepresent its operational success and financial health.

GoldBod’s firm stance underscores the importance of accurate reporting on entities vital to Ghana’s economic stability. By actively engaging in the legitimate gold trade and preparing for advanced tracking systems, GoldBod maintains its dedication to fostering a robust and transparent gold industry for the benefit of the broader Ghanaian economy.
