Paystack CTO Ezra Olubi Suspended Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Leading Nigerian fintech company, Paystack, has announced the suspension of its co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Ezra Olubi, following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a subordinate. The suspension comes after older social media posts resurfaced on X, triggering significant online backlash and raising serious concerns about workplace conduct.

Investigation Launched into Olubi’s Conduct

Paystack confirmed Olubi’s suspension in a statement, emphasizing the company’s commitment to addressing such allegations with utmost seriousness. According to the statement issued on Thursday, November 13, 2025, Olubi has been relieved of all duties pending the outcome of a formal investigation. Paystack’s Board of Directors is overseeing the review process and is in the process of appointing an independent third-party investigator. This external investigation aims to ensure a fair, thorough, and confidential inquiry into the matter. The allegations initially surfaced via social media, with an individual named Max Obae posting accusations referencing mistreatment of a former partner by an unnamed tech leader, before the focus shifted to Olubi.

Paystack’s swift action underscores the growing importance of addressing workplace misconduct within the African tech ecosystem. The outcome of the investigation will be closely watched, setting a precedent for how such matters are handled within the industry and highlighting the need for robust policies and procedures to protect employees.
