Tema Port Poised to Become Africa’s Efficiency Leader
Ghana’s Tema Port is on track to becoming the most efficient port in Africa within the next two years, according to President John Dramani Mahama. This ambitious goal follows the completion of the $1.5 billion phase I and II expansion project undertaken by Meridian Port Services (MPS). The President emphasized the port’s upgraded infrastructure, including deeper berths and advanced technology, as key factors driving this transformation.
State-of-the-Art Infrastructure Drives Efficiency
President Mahama highlighted the positive impact of the MPS partnership, noting the significant improvements in port efficiency already witnessed. He credited the collaborative public-private partnership approach for the successful expansion, emphasizing that the newly commissioned facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure designed to enhance competitiveness and streamline operations. This positions Tema Port to become a major hub for trade and logistics within the African continent.
With its modernized facilities and strategic location, Tema Port is well-positioned to significantly boost trade and economic growth in Ghana and the wider region. The expansion project underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in driving infrastructural development and improving operational efficiency within Africa’s crucial port sector.
