According to the latest figures from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the industry’s total revenue sky-rocketed to an astounding ₦7.67 trillion ($5.11 billion). This represents a remarkable 44.7% increase from the ₦5.3 trillion ($3.53 billion) reported in 2023, showcasing an incredible surge in market activity. Such robust performance propelled the sector to contribute a substantial 14.4% to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) during the fourth quarter of the year. Powering this impressive expansion, and standing at the very core of this success story, were the dominant forces of MTN Nigeria and Airtel Africa.
