GCAA Guarantees Uninterrupted Air Traffic Services Amid Planned Strike
The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has moved to reassure the public and aviation stakeholders that air travel will proceed smoothly, despite an impending strike by the Ghana Air Traffic Safety Electronics Association (GhATSEA). Scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 30, 2025, the industrial action raised concerns about potential disruptions to flight schedules and overall air traffic management.
Contingency Measures Activated
In a press release issued on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, the GCAA outlined its strategy to mitigate the impact of the strike. The Authority stated that it has implemented a comprehensive CNS/ATM Systems Contingency Plan to ensure seamless air traffic services within the Accra Flight Information Region (FIR). This plan incorporates well-defined operational protocols, specialized rapid-response teams, and improved coordination efforts. The GCAA emphasized that these measures are designed to maintain the highest standards of aviation safety and operational efficiency for both domestic and international flights.
The GCAA urged all airlines, aviation industry participants, and travelers to remain confident in the Authority’s ability to manage air traffic effectively during this period. The activation of the contingency plan underscores the GCAA’s commitment to minimizing any potential inconvenience caused by the planned industrial action and ensuring the continued safety and efficiency of Ghana’s airspace.
