FSI and Mentors Without Borders Unveil Six-Month Tech Mentorship for African Students

Financial Services Innovators (FSI), in collaboration with Mentors Without Borders (MWB), has officially launched an impactful six-month Tech Mentorship Program at Thomas Adewunmi University (TAU) in Kwara State. This strategic initiative is designed to equip 50 promising students with cutting-edge digital skills in highly sought-after technology domains, significantly enhancing their global employability prospects within the burgeoning African tech ecosystem and beyond. Building on the foundation of the previously successful FSI Virtual Innovation Lab established at TAU, this program reinforces FSI’s steadfast dedication to nurturing the next generation of African innovators through practical digital empowerment.

Driving Digital Excellence: Program Overview

The newly introduced mentorship program is meticulously structured to provide comprehensive, hands-on training and expert guidance across a spectrum of critical technological disciplines. Participants will immerse themselves in practical learning within fields such as Web Development, Machine Learning, AI Product Management, Project Management, Digital Marketing, and Technical Support. A core objective of this initiative is to bridge the crucial gap between academic theory and real-world industry application. To achieve this, students will actively engage in real-life projects, enabling them to build robust professional portfolios that showcase tangible skills to potential employers. Furthermore, the program facilitates invaluable connections for these students with experienced mentors, providing guidance and insights essential for navigating their tech careers.

This collaboration between FSI and Mentors Without Borders marks a significant stride in addressing the skills gap prevalent in the African tech landscape. By focusing on practical application and industry-relevant skills, the program is poised to empower its 50 student participants from Thomas Adewunmi University to become highly competitive and adaptable professionals in the global digital economy, reinforcing Africa’s position as a hub for innovation.
