Algeria’s Auto-Entrepreneur Card: A Boost for the Digital Economy

The Algerian government is reporting significant progress in its support for micro-entrepreneurs. Since the launch of the auto-entrepreneur card in January 2024, over 50,000 individuals have successfully obtained the card. This positive news was announced by Noureddine Ouadah, the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups, and Micro-Enterprises, during an interview on Radio Chaîne 1. This initiative is a clear indication of the government’s commitment to fostering a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Empowering Freelancers with Digital Tools

The auto-entrepreneur card, a key component of this initiative, stems from the efforts of the National Agency for Auto-Entrepreneurs (ANAE). This agency launched a digital platform in January 2024, providing a streamlined process for professionals working in liberal professions to register and apply for the card. The card, in accordance with Law No. 22-23 of December 18, 2022, grants auto-entrepreneurs access to various benefits, thus encouraging economic activity and innovation. During his radio appearance, Minister Ouadah also highlighted the upcoming 4th edition of the African Startup Conference, scheduled for December 6-8 in Algiers. He emphasized the conference’s importance in showcasing Algeria’s leadership in innovation, start-up creation, and new technologies within the African context.
