MEST Africa has officially announced the twenty pioneering fintech startups that have advanced to the semi-finals of the MEST Africa Challenge (MAC) 2025. These innovative ventures are now set to present their groundbreaking solutions aimed at alleviating financial hurdles across the African continent, marking a significant step in fostering homegrown innovation.

The 7th edition of the MEST Africa Challenge, themed “You Build, We Scale,” is a collaborative effort with Absa, a prominent pan-African bank. This partnership, unveiled in a statement seen by Technext, seeks to empower fintech founders to transform their innovative concepts into tangible impact. The initiative’s core objective is to spotlight Africa’s most promising startups, not just in fintech but also in other high-value chain sectors, driving economic growth and technological advancement across the region. Entries for this prestigious challenge were sourced from Absa’s eight key priority markets, which include Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Uganda, and Zambia. Absa Group Limited, headquartered in South Africa, maintains a strong presence across 10 African nations and was formerly known as Barclays Africa.
