Mahama to Unveil Ambitious Gomoa Central Special Economic Zone

President John Dramani Mahama is set to officially launch the Gomoa Central Special Economic Zone (GCSEZ) on October 21, 2025. This $1.5 billion development is poised to significantly impact Ghana’s economic landscape, with projections estimating the creation of 60,000 jobs. The project aims to bolster Ghana’s industrial capacity and foster growth within its digital economy, representing a major step toward a more diversified and robust national economy.

A Vision for Industrial Transformation and the 24-Hour Economy

Spanning an expansive 21,000 acres, the GCSEZ is a collaborative venture managed by the Gomoa Central Development Trust, with crucial support from the Ghana Free Zones Authority. The zone is intended to be a central part of Ghana’s ambitious 24-hour economy vision. The initiative’s impact is further amplified by its strategic design. Kwame Asare Obeng, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, emphasizes the project’s broader goals. He describes the GCSEZ as a complete ecosystem, illustrating how economic viability and environmental sustainability can be pursued simultaneously. President Mahama has previously noted that the 24-Hour Economy extends beyond simply extending working hours and constitutes a significant economic transformation.

A 24-hour business district will be an integral part of the zone.
