Vertiv and Nxtra by Airtel Africa Join Forces to Build African Data Center Network

Vertiv, a leading global provider of digital infrastructure solutions, has announced a significant multi-year partnership with Nxtra by Airtel Africa. This collaboration supports Nxtra’s ambitious goal of establishing an extensive data center network across the African continent, beginning with a significant project in Nigeria. This alliance underscores the growing demand for robust digital infrastructure in Africa and Vertiv’s commitment to supporting this expansion.

Key Elements of the Partnership

The agreement focuses on delivering essential infrastructure components for Nxtra’s planned data centers. Vertiv will provide advanced thermal management systems, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units including batteries, and comprehensive commissioning and maintenance services. The initial project, a substantial 42-megawatt (MW) facility in Nigeria, will be developed in four phases and is projected to be fully operational by 2028. Vertiv’s Nigerian service team will be directly responsible for the installation of the equipment and will provide ongoing support for five years to ensure operational reliability and minimal disruptions. Nxtra aims to invest significantly in this project. This strategic partnership highlights the increasing importance of reliable and efficient data centers to support Africa’s rapidly growing digital economy.

The partnership between Vertiv and Nxtra marks a crucial step in building essential digital infrastructure across Africa. This collaboration will help support the growth of digital services, enabling increased connectivity, and contributing to the technological advancement of the continent.
