Rana Energy Secures $3M to Power Africa’s Clean Energy Future

Rana Energy, a pioneering Clean Energy-as-a-Service platform leveraging artificial intelligence, has successfully closed a $3 million pre-seed funding round. This investment marks a significant step in the company’s mission to address Africa’s critical energy challenges, where 600 million people currently lack dependable access to electricity. With African nations spending over $35 billion annually on backup diesel generators, Rana Energy is poised to accelerate the transition to clean, cost-effective, and dependable energy solutions across the continent.

Funding Fuels Expansion of AI-Driven Energy Solutions

The $3 million investment is composed of $500,000 in equity and a $2.5 million local currency green debt note. Techstars, EchoVC Eco, and prominent angel investors contributed to the equity portion. Notable angel investors include Chinedu Azodoh and Tayo Bamiduro, co-founders of MAX. The green debt note was arranged by Optimum Global and backed by FSDH Asset Management. Founded in 2023 by engineers Abraham Mohammed and Mubarak Popoola, Rana Energy’s core technology, the Virtual Solar Network (VSN), employs AI to forecast energy requirements, bundle solar and storage projects into appealing investment portfolios, and remotely oversee distributed clean energy resources. This comprehensive AI-driven digital utility is set to revolutionize how energy is produced and distributed across the African continent.
