Jinapor Challenges New NEDCo Board to Overcome Operational Hurdles
Ghana’s Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has charged the recently appointed Board of Directors for the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) with the responsibility of tackling the utility provider’s persistent operational difficulties. Key Priorities for NEDCo Board
Jinapor outlined three crucial areas the new board must prioritize to achieve significant improvements. First, he emphasized the need to bolster revenue mobilization efforts, which includes investigating and resolving the inefficiencies contributing to revenue losses. Secondly, the board is tasked with enhancing customer education programs to improve public understanding of energy usage and management. Lastly, the board must strive to guarantee a steady and reliable power supply across NEDCo’s operational zones. The Minister made it clear that the board’s leadership is expected to bring about tangible changes within the company.
The minister’s call to action highlights the imperative for sustainable solutions within Africa’s energy distribution networks.
The minister believes that the board must drive effective customer engagement initiatives.
In essence, the future of the northern regions’ power supply hinges on the new board’s ability to drive efficiency, enhance customer relations, and ultimately, ensure reliable electricity access.
