Jasho: A Fintech Solution for Financial Inclusion
The Kenyan team’s winning project, ‘Jasho-Powering Your Hustle’, is an innovative fintech application designed to address financial management challenges faced by gig workers and individuals with disabilities. Utilizing artificial intelligence, the app provides a comprehensive suite of features, including real-time expense tracking, personalized financial advice, and robust fraud protection. Furthermore, Jasho incorporates accessibility features such as voice commands and facial recognition, ensuring usability for a diverse range of users. The development of Jasho reflects the hackathon’s theme, “Future-Proofing Africa: Innovation at the Intersection of FinTech, Cybersecurity, and AI.” The national competition saw 112 women, aged 18 to 35, compete, working tirelessly for 30 hours to build their solutions, emphasizing the importance of digital skills for women.
