Startup WorkRemits Targets PaidHR and SeamlessHR with African Payroll Solution
The tech world often views consultants as skilled advisors, but less equipped to build and launch their own products. This perception is being challenged by Seyi Babatunde, who, after years of advising major companies on their African hiring strategies through HRLeverage Africa, identified a crucial market gap: the complexities and inefficiencies of managing payroll across diverse African nations. Now, Babatunde, along with Dan Adegoke, is stepping out of consulting and into the world of building, aiming to revolutionize how African businesses handle payroll.
From Advisory to Action: The Birth of WorkRemits
Babatunde’s firm, HRLeverage Africa, has a proven track record, having assisted TikTok and OPay in their African hiring efforts. Witnessing the cumbersome process of managing payroll across multiple African countries – a system burdened by slow processing times and high costs – spurred Babatunde and Adegoke to action. Instead of simply suggesting another off-the-shelf solution, they decided to develop WorkRemits. This payroll management and cross-border payment platform directly addresses the frustrations HRLeverage Africa encountered daily. WorkRemits is now positioned as a standalone company, aiming to offer a streamlined and cost-effective alternative to existing players like PaidHR and SeamlessHR in the African market.
This new platform is a direct response to the challenges inherent in navigating the financial and regulatory landscapes of African countries, offering a localized solution to a pervasive problem.
