Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC-Legon) has triumphed at the Renewable Energy Challenge, showcasing groundbreaking innovation in the African tech landscape. The Accra International Conference Center played host to the competition on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, where students from six Senior High Schools presented their technological advancements. PRESEC-Legon’s victory highlights the growing potential of young Ghanaian minds to contribute to solving critical societal challenges using cutting-edge technology.
PRESEC’s AI-Powered Healthcare Revolution
The winning project by PRESEC-Legon centered on an artificial intelligence (AI) system aimed at revolutionizing the delivery of primary healthcare services. This innovative solution is a 24-hour automated health facility complete with a pharmacy, designed to ease the workload of medical professionals and enhance healthcare accessibility, especially in underserved areas. The AI-powered machine offers a range of services, including Body Mass Index (BMI) calculations, ailment scans, interactive live sessions, and preliminary diagnoses. Their groundbreaking work earned them a substantial cash prize of GH¢220,000, alongside souvenirs from the organizers and partners, a testament to their remarkable achievement and the promise of a future where technology plays a pivotal role in improving healthcare across Africa.
