PRESEC Wins Renewable Energy Challenge with AI-Powered Healthcare Innovation
Ghana’s technological landscape witnessed a significant leap forward as Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC-Legon) clinched victory at the Renewable Energy Challenge. This exciting competition, held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Center, saw six Senior High Schools showcasing their innovative projects. PRESEC-Legon’s triumph underscores the growing importance of technology in addressing critical societal needs, particularly in healthcare within the African context.
AI Revolutionizes Healthcare Delivery
PRESEC-Legon’s winning project, an AI-driven system designed to provide primary healthcare services, immediately set them apart. This groundbreaking 24-hour automated health facility incorporates a pharmacy and aims to alleviate the strain on medical professionals. The innovative system, powered by artificial intelligence, promises to enhance access to healthcare, especially in underserved communities. The AI machine is programmed to perform several crucial functions. It can calculate patients’ Body Mass Index (BMI), scan for potential ailments, facilitate live interactive sessions with patients, and offer preliminary diagnoses. The school was awarded a substantial cash prize of GH¢220,000, in addition to several souvenirs from the organizers and partners, recognizing the project’s potential to reshape healthcare delivery in Ghana and beyond.
The Renewable Energy Challenge victory highlights the potential of African youth in technology and innovation. This innovative project sets a new benchmark for technological advancements within the country.
