Angola Under Siege: A Deep Dive into Cyber Threats
Check Point Research, in its Global Threat Intelligence Report for September 2025, revealed that Angola experienced the highest volume of cyberattacks in Africa, averaging 3,045 weekly attacks per organisation. While this figure represents a 54% year-over-year decrease, it still positions Angola as the most targeted nation on the continent. Following closely behind are Kenya, with 3,000 weekly attacks (a 21% decrease), Nigeria, with 2,749 (a 32% decrease), and South Africa, experiencing 2,054 weekly attacks, marking a concerning 26% increase compared to the previous year. Globally, organisations faced an average of 1,900 attacks per week.
The surge in cyberattacks across Africa underscores the urgent need for enhanced cybersecurity measures and increased awareness. As the digital landscape expands, organisations must prioritize robust security protocols to safeguard their operations, data, and customer trust in an increasingly hostile online environment.
