Southern Gas Plant Project in Tataouine to Resume Work Soon
A significant agreement has been reached, paving the way for the resumption of work on the strategically important southern gas plant project located in Ghordhab, Tataouine. Governor Amir Gabsi announced the breakthrough on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, following a productive working meeting held at the governorate headquarters. Construction is expected to resume next week.
Addressing Obstacles and Ensuring Progress
The meeting facilitated crucial dialogue between key stakeholders, including representatives from the Tunisian Petroleum Activities Company (ETAP), the primary construction company, a subcontracting firm, and a group of directly involved workers. The core focus was to bridge differing perspectives and resolve outstanding issues that had previously stalled progress on the vital gas infrastructure project.
The governor has pledged the continued commitment of regional authorities to actively remove any remaining obstacles. This dedication aims to secure the necessary environment for the uninterrupted continuation of work on this major national project, specifically the construction of a natural gas processing plant that is critical for Tunisia’s energy sector. This resumption signifies positive strides in energy infrastructure development in the region.
